We have met Bettina and Tim to talk about their wedding 20 minutes right after we have shot another wedding in Hamburg. Our faces must have been slightly exhausted, lucky us – they didn’t mind. Some months later we returned to capture their wedding.

This summer we witnessed lots of weather phenomenas while shooting weddings. But the wedding of Bettina & Tim topped everything. After weeks of rain everyone was very relieved when the day started with blue skies and a warm breeze. And how wonderful indeed – it got even warmer. Soon the heat was a little taxing and clouds appeared. But who would want to complain?

It was just the right weather for a little boat trip in the Hamburger Hafen which promised some cooling, great views accompanied by jazzy music and champagne mixed with elder sirup.

We were already on our way back when the clouds became darker and darker and an electrical tension filled the air. Just right after the boat was tied to the pier the first raindrops of what would become a serious thunderstorm started to fall. Bettina, Tim and us stayed a little bit longer on board to snap some last pics. Then it was time to hurry up.

We reached the car almost dry, shut the door and suddenly it poured down as if we had parked under a cascade. Surrounded by heavy thunderbolt and without lot of sight we headed to the wedding venue. Next thing on schedule: The couple portrait session in the garden of the Elsa Brändström Haus. It didn’t seem to be happening so we were brainstorming for alternatives. But just as we turned into the gateway the rain stopped as if switched off. It was over. Wet leaves and fresh smells.
