“We were searching for a photographer that could capture the comfort, familiarity and home we had already created for ourselves – our story, not just a wedding.”

golden pomp ~ merry christmas

Dear reader, client and friend!

Whatever your plans may be for Christmas, wherever you are, whether you’re at work or spending time with family and friends, or perhaps you’re taking a break from all this christmas craziness-

We hope that you’re happy and that you do what you like to do and have a great end of 2011!

The time we spent together with you was fun and meant a lot to us. We love our work and couldn’t do it without you.
Thank you for your support, trust and open hearts! Merry Christmas. ~ Hanni & Marcus

A newly interpreted classic: The golden pom-pom made from rescue blanket. This will be our decoration for new years eve. By now we probably made 15 of them. We’ll try to achieve 20 more!

wearing monster jackets

Last winter, as you will remember, Germany has been a winter wonderland and the cold besides was crazy. That’s why this year we’re prepared and well equipped. For the first time in my life I own a down filled jacket and Marcus bought boots which fit to Canada-chill standards. So now we’re only waiting for the temperature to drop. It still feels like fall in Berlin, but we’re patient. We can wait… Here are two pictures for those who miss the snow (and miss wearing their monster jackets). Happy fourth advent!

This is what the baltic sea looked like at christmas time last year. The beach was covered with frozen waves and icy rims.

And this is what I looked like borrowing Marcus jacket.

Snapping these pictures was almost too painfull, because the minute we would take of our gloves to handle the camera our fingers turned into ice. Maybe we should get this special photographers gloves, too…

Harlem, Balaton and good ole G

More Harlem later.

In art school, we often went to a farm in Hungary which an artist I knew has bought. The images are quit old but I like them. They reflect pretty much the feeling of the trips. An eclectic mix of performance artists ( Mara Mattuschka was our teacher back then ), musicians and photographers, doing stuff on Super 8 and film, most of the time naked.  The sleeping guy is Björn and he is smoking in a lake after we caught fishes by hand and nothing else. A technique we learned from Sinti people we were good friends with. The shirt should protect against leeches, but that didn’t work.

Below, you see two guys  from New York. I worked with them at a shelter in Harlem. The shelter was run by a priest. From one day to the next the priest suddenly left his community and stole all the money.

Once, I went to the kermis with a guy who is a little bit like the ‘Rain Man’. At a shooting stand for air guns he always targeted the guy who was running the booth. He never put the rifle towards the plastic roses or metal boares. Luckily, he was not quick on the draw.
